About us
Sehklinik combines ophthalmic specialisation with personal, attentive care across three locations in the canton of Zurich.
We are big enough to be strong — and small enough to take every patient seriously. Our diagnostic and treatment options and our equipment are comparable with those of a university hospital. At the same time it is personal, warm and understandable here, from the first consultation to aftercare.
Our promise to you
We tell you what we see, what it means and what it will cost — before you decide.
After the examination we explain the findings, the possible routes and the risks. Before you decide you receive a complete, itemised cost breakdown in writing; the diagnosis, the options and the alternatives we go through with you in conversation. You can then decide in your own time, rather than under pressure in the consulting room.
That includes the opposite of a recommendation: if in our judgement a procedure would do little for you, or would come too early, we say so and give our reasons. Sehklinik has no investors — what is treated is decided by the medical assessment.
We take personal advice seriously
Advice here means explaining until it is clear — and doing so through the doctor who will also treat you.
We take time over the findings: what was measured, what it means, what needs doing now and what can wait. No jargon, and room for your questions. If a second opinion makes sense, we tell you that too.
Your doctor remains your point of contact — from the first examination to aftercare.
What sets us apart
Sehklinik is led by an ophthalmologist, not by an administration.
PD Dr med. Andrea von Rückmann founded the clinic in Zurich in 2004; since then it is the medical assessment that decides what we offer and what we do not. Today we are here for you at three locations in the canton of Zurich: Zurich, Wetzikon and Meilen.
Diagnostics, consultation and aftercare follow the same rules at all three locations. What differs is the infrastructure — not the standard we hold ourselves to and not the care we take.
Quality you can feel
Quality shows in how things are done: in your knowing, at every point, where you stand.
In Zurich and Wetzikon we run two category 1 day clinics of our own; surgical procedures take place there, with a team that works together every day. Consultations, diagnostics and follow-up checks are offered at all three locations.
That includes understandable instructions for the time after a procedure, follow-up appointments that are arranged with you, and a number on which you can reach us if something is unclear. We build the processes so that calm is possible — in the waiting area as much as in theatre.
