Three locations for your eye health

Sehklinik is present in three places in the canton of Zurich: in Zurich at Hallenstrasse 8, in Wetzikon at Bahnhofstrasse 126 and in Meilen at Dorfstrasse 94. That is three buildings, but not three levels of quality. Diagnostics, consultation and aftercare follow the same rules at every location, and the clinic is led by an ophthalmologist, not by an administration.

What differs between the locations is the infrastructure. In Zurich and Wetzikon we run two category 1 day clinics of our own — that is where the surgical procedures take place. Meilen is a practice for consultations, diagnostics and follow-up checks. Which location is the right one for you therefore depends less on the journey than on what you are coming for; the section 'Which location for which concern' sets that out.

Two things are the same everywhere. At all three locations we also treat children from kindergarten age. And a spontaneous appointment without prior notice cannot be guaranteed at any location — please call ahead briefly or book online.

The Zurich location lies between Bellevue and Kreuzplatz. Here you will find the full ophthalmic spectrum: screening and early detection, sight tests, the treatment of retinal diseases such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD), of cataract and of glaucoma, along with follow-up checks, second opinions and specialised consultations. Zurich is also the location for skin rejuvenation with the UltraClear™ laser and for YAG/SLT laser and IPL treatments. Surgical procedures are carried out in our own category 1 day clinic.

By public transport: various rail and tram lines to Bahnhof Zürich Stadelhofen (8 minutes on foot). Tram 11/15 or bus no. 912/916 to the stop 'Zürich, Kreuzplatz' (3 minutes on foot). By car: head for Zürich Bellevue; the Opéra and Utoquai car parks are nearby (2 minutes on foot). Wetzikon serves the Zürcher Oberland: routine checks, the assessment of complex symptoms, retinal diseases such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD), cataract and glaucoma, along with sight tests, follow-up checks and second opinions. Where there are eyelid malpositions we advise carefully and operate here both functionally and plastically when that makes medical sense. Wetzikon also has a category 1 day clinic of its own, in which the surgical procedures take place.

By public transport: rail: S3/S5/S14/S15 to the stop Bahnhof Wetzikon ZH (12 minutes on foot). Bus: 850/851/852 to the stop 'Wetzikon ZH, Schloss' (1 minute on foot). If you take the bus you are practically at the door; from the station it is around twelve minutes on foot. By car: head for Wetzikon ZH; visitor parking spaces for our building (see the site plan, 2 minutes on foot) or the Leuen car park are nearby (4 minutes on foot). Meilen is our practice on the right-hand shore of Lake Zurich — for screening, sight tests, diagnostics, follow-up checks and second opinions, and for advice and treatment where there are eyelid malpositions. Here too the focus includes retinal diseases such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD) as well as cataract and glaucoma.

Meilen is a practice and nothing more: consultations, diagnostics and follow-up checks take place here, surgical procedures do not — not even minor ones. Our two category 1 day clinics in Zurich and Wetzikon are there for those. So if a procedure is due, you change location for that one appointment, agreed with the doctor who looks after you in Meilen.

By public transport: rail: S6/S7 to the stop Bahnhof Meilen (2 minutes on foot). Bus: 921/922/923/925 to the stop 'Meilen, Bahnhof' (2 minutes on foot). For a consultation the rule is the simplest one there is: take the location you can reach fastest. Initial assessments, sight tests, screening, diagnostics, follow-up checks and second opinions are offered in Zurich, Wetzikon and Meilen alike. A concern is not judged differently in Meilen than in Zurich.

For surgical procedures the place changes. They take place in our own category 1 day clinics in Zurich and Wetzikon. If you come to Meilen for your consultation and an operation is a possibility, for you that means: preliminary examination and follow-up checks at your usual location, the procedure itself at the day clinic. So you change location for the procedure, not for the care before and after it.

Skin rejuvenation with the UltraClear™ laser and the YAG/SLT laser and IPL treatments exist only in Zurich. Functional and plastic lid surgery we offer in Zurich and Wetzikon; advice on eyelid malpositions — heavy lids, a restricted field of vision — is available at all three locations.
